Vodafone Standardizes its 3G Testing

Following the work carried out by Indra for Vodafone Spain in the design of testing protocols for 3G device acceptance, Vodafone Group has extended the model to the rest of its operating companies throughout the World.

Indra was collaborating with Vodafone Spain on the project for the development of 3G device reliability acceptance testing, within the framework of Vodafone Spain's 3G licence commitments, assumed at the time of the awarding of their UMTS licence. This work was successfully completed at the end of 2000.

The project included the standardisation of a 3G device "quality certification", key to ensuring the compatibility of all 3G mobile devices with both the networks and all applications employed by Vodafone.

The testing protocol has now been fully defined and the resulting 3G terminal test cases are available for Vodafone Group to use in discussions with 3G device suppliers."
