Validated Acoustic Test Cases for W-CDMA

Even for the new generation of mobile communication devices the acoustic reproduction quality remains one of the crucial points. In order to ensure a high and constant level of reproduction quality, the technical committee 3GPP has standardised test methods that enable the measurement of acoustic characteristics via the air interface. And the Global Certification Form (GCF) has prioritised and set up a list of 3GPP test cases including the appropriate acoustic test cases which are necessary for the certification of W-CDMA terminals.

CETECOM has, on behalf of Rohde & Schwarz, validated the full set of 3GPP audio test cases against the 3GPP test specification 26.132 on the Rohde & Schwarz test platform CMU200/UPL16. The validated set of test cases covers the testing of the transmission and receiving behaviour of the terminal as well as the testing of the idle channel noise and the echo control in the handset.

After the successful conclusion of the validation project CETECOM has added those test cases which can be used either for the certification of mobile communication devices according to GCF requirements or for the development of new products to the company's service portfolio. Thanks to this CETECOM is the first test laboratory worldwide that offers the validated acoustic test cases for W-CDMA in addition to the testing of RF, protocol and USIM characteristics to its customers in order to support them at a very early stage of W-CDMA."
