Cingular Licenses Wi-Fi Roaming Software

PCTEL says that is to supply the USA based cellular network, Cingular Wireless with its Segue Roaming Client. Under the terms of a recently signed three-year agreement, PCTEL will license a Cingular-branded version of the Roaming Client that will simplify access to Cingular's wireless networks. The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

"We optimized the Segue Roaming Client for the cellular carriers," said Marty Singer, PCTEL's Chairman and CEO. "It is encouraging to see leading providers, such as Cingular and its affiliates, taking advantage of their ability to brand the product under their service and leverage the cellular capabilities of the Roaming Client," added Singer.

PCTEL's customers have deployed the Segue Roaming Client worldwide. The client has been bundled with 802.11 chipsets and licensed to major carriers within and outside the U.S.

The Segue Roaming Client provides mobile users secure, seamless access and roaming capabilities for cellular data networks in public areas, at the office, and in the home. The Segue Roaming Client enables rapid scanning of available networks and a user-friendly connection process."
