Vodafone Improving the Core Transport Network
Vodafone Hungary and Tellabs have signed an agreement that will see the network deploy Tellabs' integrated transport and access solutions under one unified management system. Vodafone Hungary will use the Tellabs next-generation Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH) and access solution to build its own mobile transport infrastructure, enabling it to become less reliant on leased lines while reducing operating costs.
By combining the Tellabs 6300 managed transport system and Tellabs 8100 managed access system under the Tellabs 8100 network management system, Vodafone can integrate and handle multiple services in a single platform. The Tellabs solution will enable Vodafone to speed up provisioning of new services and optimize network efficiency through better utilization of its network.
"In order to increase service offerings to our customers, we intend to expand our capacity in the transmission network. We chose the Tellabs solution for its proven effectiveness in other networks worldwide, including Vodafone subsidiaries, as well as for the responsiveness and professional capabilities of Tellabs' team. They will be assisting us during the installation and commissioning and provide training on the new equipment," said Gabor Dobrossy, chief technology officer, Vodafone.
The frame agreement between Vodafone Hungary and Tellabs International includes both the Tellabs 6300 managed transport and Tellabs 8100 managed access systems as well as the Tellabs 8100 network management system that provides end-to-end integrated network management."
