Alcatel Wins Canadian Backbone Contract
Alcatel has been awarded a major multi-year contract by Canada's Telus Mobility to provide the national wireless carrier with a cross-Canada communications backbone infrastructure. The turnkey solution includes microwave products, network design and installation services that will enable Telus Mobility to dramatically reduce its operational expenses, increase backbone capacity, and rapidly provision voice and data services to meet subscriber growth.
For progressive operators such as Telus Mobility, microwave radio technology is a natural choice for enhancing mobile communications within its network, offering an economical, reliable alternative to wireline transmission. Capable of rapid network roll-out, the Alcatel solution lets Telus Mobility quickly establish commercial operations to meet subscriber growth, maximizing return on investment and maintaining the high quality of service that has become their signature.
"With more than three million subscribers across Canada, Telus Mobility is committed to providing its clients with innovative and exclusive digital wireless services, any place and any time," said Hilbert Chan, Telus Mobility's Vice President of Corporate Engineering. "The flexible and reliable support of Alcatel's microwave transmission solutions lets us focus on delivering the variety of services our clients want and deserve."
