Cellular One Installs GSM Roaming Software

Western Wireless, the operator of Cellular One, and Am-Beo, provider of rating, roaming and settlements software, have jointly announced the successful implementation of Am-Beo's rating and roaming software for the Western Wireless GSM network.

"This implementation allows Western Wireless to greatly expand its service to roaming subscribers," said Rietta Stoneman, vice president of information technology and billing at Western Wireless Corporation. "Through strategic agreements with other wireless operators, Western Wireless can provide improved coverage and clearer connections to their GSM customers as they roam in our network area. Am-Beo has provided us with a technologically advanced yet economical approach in offering our GSM overlay services. We are thoroughly impressed with their capabilities, from their knowledgeable and professional staff to their timely implementation of services."

"Any communications service provider investment around billing and OSS is still driven by the demand for outstanding adjunct technology that integrates with existing infrastructure, and ultimately provides a well defined return on investment," noted Paul Hughes, director of billing and payment application strategies at the Yankee Group. "Am-Beo has designed its rating and roaming software solutions to leverage existing carrier assets, yet provide the required functionality upgrades without substantial investment in systems replacement."
